Some may believe that everything old is eventually new again. Welcome back to 618 Ruthven Street and its half-brother at 624. This building began its life as two separate buildings, one a car sales showroom and the other the home of a regional newspaper.
StruXi’s role was to revitalise the building both inside and out creating spaces appropriate for both retail and professional services to occupy. Within a short time frame the building was transformed, keeping in mind the façade design had to show a link across the tenancies whilst portraying their individuality. Key objectives were to retain as much of the existing structure as possible and open the façades to provide interaction with the street.
Tenants signed up while construction was taking place and thanks to a close working relationship between the design team, builder and building owner, completed tenancy spaces were delivered. The new tenancies are now occupied and an iconic feature on the streetscape lives on.
