203 MARGARET STREET, TOOWOOMBA - COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT

BUILDING DESIGN

INTERIOR DESIGN

In January 2017, StruXi set about assisting one of our valued clients with the re-development of the "Longs Building", situated in heart of Toowoomba city. The building, originally designed by Harry Marks of the famous firm Charles Marks and Sons, was built in 1909 and consisted of ornate and prohibitively expensive details.  The building became known as the "City Chambers" and the original design saw it become an integral form of the Toowoomba City streetscape.

StruXi was granted with the opportunity to showcase our design skills to transform this building, without losing sight of its original structure & purpose. Unlike other buildings similar to this, the now "Longs Building" facade was significantly damaged by a destructive fire in 1950’s.  Although the building was not heritage listed, we endeavoured to create a design that complemented the existing structure & design, rather than detracting from it.

The re-development of this building has added character & elegance to the Toowoomba City skyline.  We hope it has as much impact as the original "City Chambers" design.
